SUMMARY:Mactaquac Camping and Observing Weekend
DESCRIPTION:Come join members of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada for our annual Camping and Observing (COW) event at Mactaquac Provincial Park. \n\n\n\nSeveral telescopes will be set-up on Friday and Saturday nights\, to allow the public to view the wonders of the night sky. Weather permitting\, we’ll be able to see various star clusters\, galaxies\, and nebulae. \n\n\n\nPreceding the evening observation sessions\, there will be a presentation where you can learn about the night sky wonders that can be observed that evening. \n\n\n\nDuring Saturday afternoon\, drop by to take a close-up view of the sun through our safe solar-filtered telescopes. Bring along your telescope for a free set and tuning. If you need instructions on operation\, there will be amateur astronomers on hand to guide you through the use and set-up of your telescope. \n\n\n\nFor VisitorsThe star party activities are free and open to the public\, however\, you must have a pass to enter the park. Plusieurs télescopes seront en place les vendredi et samedi soirs pour permettre au public d’observer les merveilles du ciel nocturne. Si la météo le permet\, on pourra voir des amas d’étoiles\, des galaxies\, des nébuleuses\, ainsi que les planètes Jupiter et Vénus. \n\n\n\nPendant le samedi après-midi\, venez passer voir le soleil agrandi dans nos télescopes spécialement filtrés. DESCRIPTION:This is the 25th anniversary of RASC NB\, and we are having a casual get-together of current and some former members to celebrate and reminisce. The Rockwood Park Interpretation Centre in Saint John has been booked for Saturday 25 October from 11:00 to 15:00.We will attempt to make this a hybrid meeting with online access via Zoom. Zoom information will be sent via the announcements mailing list. \n\n\n\nThis will be a “bring your own lunch” (BYOL) affair and we recommend you also bring your own mug (astronomy theme if you have one). Keurig coffee and maybe tea will be available. We do not have a liquor licence. The facility has a fridge and a microwave. \n\n\n\nIf you are feeling unwell please do not attend in person.
